Geeknewz exclusive availability map built from Apple's September 14 newsroom post, Apple Support on next-gen Apple Intelligence, and how-to reporting from Times of India on September 27. This is a who-gets-what guide, not a feature tour of every Writing Tools tweak.
Apple shipped the rebuilt assistant with iOS 27 and friends on September 14. Two weeks later, a lot of people still open Settings, see the old Siri, and wonder if they missed a toggle. The short answer is that installing the update is not the same as joining Siri AI. The longer answer is a map of hardware, language, region, and a daily meter Apple has already said will eventually have a paid lane.

We lined up Apple's own device list, region carve-outs, language schedule, and usage-limit language so you can tell whether the beta is a settings tap away or still a slide deck on your phone.
The opt-in that trips people up
Times of India's September 27 walkthrough matches what Apple's support pages imply: Siri AI is behind Try Siri AI (Beta) in Settings → Siri. Updating to iOS 27 leaves classic Siri in place until you join that queue. Prior Apple Intelligence opt-ins do not carry over. After enrollment and voice setup, you sit on a waitlist; some people clear it in minutes, others wait hours. The dedicated Siri app showing up on the Home Screen is the clearest signal that the new stack actually landed.

If you hate it, Apple's path is blunt. Turning Siri off entirely removes the assistant. Getting back to Siri Classic means turning Siri AI off first, then choosing Use Siri Classic when you turn Siri back on. That is useful if you only wanted Photos Clean Up and Safari Notify Me, not a conversational assistant reading Mail.
Who is in, who is out
| Gate | What Apple says now | Practical read on Sep 27 |
|---|---|---|
| Hardware (iPhone) | iPhone 15 Pro / Pro Max, iPhone Air, iPhone 16 and later on iOS 27 | Older non-Pro 15 and below stay on classic Siri |
| Hardware (other) | iPad M1+ / mini A17 Pro; Mac M1+ / MacBook Neo A18 Pro; Vision Pro; Watch Series 9+ / Ultra 2+ / SE 3 with AI iPhone nearby | Watch Audio Intelligence (Live Rewind, Siri Recap) still needs Series 12 / Ultra 4 later in 2026 |
| Language | Siri AI English beta at launch; French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, Spanish "next month" | About 13 days into English-only; other languages aimed at October |
| EU on iPhone / iPad / Watch | Siri AI not available initially; dependent features off too | Mac in the EU can still get Siri AI per Apple's pricing notes |
| China | New Apple Intelligence features blocked while Apple works through regulation | Mainland purchase or mainland Apple Account + presence = no go for now |
| Age | Siri AI not available under 13 | Family Sharing kids stay on classic behavior |
| Usage | Server-side features (including Siri AI) have daily limits; expanded access "for a fee" later | No published number; plan for a meter, not unlimited chat |
Apple's newsroom and support page also split "Apple Intelligence features across apps" from Siri AI itself. EU residents can already use advanced photo editing, the reimagined Image Playground, and Safari intelligence on supported devices even while Siri AI stays off on iPhone and iPad. That is why two people on iOS 27 can have very different Settings screens.
Calendar math since the launch post
Count from Apple's September 14, 2026 newsroom date to today, September 27: that is 13 days of English beta. "Next month" for French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, and Spanish points at October, so if you are waiting on those languages you are still roughly a few days to a few weeks out depending on when in October Apple flips the switch. Apple Watch Live Rewind and Siri Recap are called out as late-2026 betas on Series 12 and Ultra 4 only, so the wrist story is a second wave, not a day-one checkbox.
AFM Core Advanced, Apple's strongest on-device model, narrows expressive voices and the rebuilt dictation further: Apple lists iPhone Duo, iPhone 18 Pro / Pro Max, iPhone Air, iPhone 17 Pro / Pro Max, plus higher-memory iPad and Mac tiers. Everyone else on the Apple Intelligence list can still get Siri AI's core personal-context and onscreen features without those two niceties.
Geeknewz verdict
If you already own a supported iPhone outside the EU and China, join the beta waitlist this weekend and treat daily limits as part of the product. If you are in the EU on iPhone, use the Apple Intelligence app features that already shipped and keep expectations off Siri AI until Apple and regulators settle. If you are shopping for a phone mainly for the new assistant, buy hardware on the Apple Intelligence list and budget for a future paid "expanded access" tier Apple has already promised in writing without naming a price. Geeknewz's view: the useful story is not "Siri is finally smart." It is that availability, language, region, and a coming meter matter more than the keynote demo.
