Geeknewz exclusive price comparison built from Meta's September 23 Display update, Meta's original $799 launch post, and retail pricing reported by Mixed-News. FX conversions use open.er-api mid-market rates from September 28, 2026 (UTC), shown below so you can redo the math.
Meta spent Connect week talking about cycling directions, hologram WhatsApp calls, and an Explore app on Meta Ray-Ban Display. The quieter story is the checkout screen. Online ordering is open in the US, Canada, and the UK, with France, Italy, and Germany still counting down to October 13. Same glasses-plus-Neural-Band kit, very different local stickers once you put them in one currency.

We converted the published starting prices into US dollars and lined them up against the US floor Meta has held since last fall. That is the useful comparison if you are traveling, shopping near a border, or deciding whether to wait for an EU retail appointment.
One kit, four stickers
Every figure below is Meta's published starting price for the glasses and Meta Neural Band together. Battery claims are Meta's mixed-use numbers from the original launch: up to six hours on the frames and up to 30 hours with the case. Neural Band battery is up to 18 hours.

| Market | Local sticker | USD (Sep 28 FX) | vs US $799 | Availability now |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| United States | $799 | $799 | baseline | Online ordering open |
| Canada | CA$1,149 | ~$812 | +~1.6% | Online + retail (Vancouver, Toronto) |
| United Kingdom | £749 | ~$991 | +~24% | Online + retail (London) |
| Germany (EU start) | €899 | ~$1,024 | +~28% | Pre-order now; sales Oct 13 |
Inputs, so you can check us: USD per GBP about 1.3235, per EUR about 1.1385, per CAD about 0.7068 on September 28 UTC from open.er-api. That turns £749 into about $991 and €899 into about $1,024. Canada lands almost on top of the US price. The UK and German floors do not.
Per hour of Meta's six-hour mixed-use claim, the US kit is about $133 an hour of frame battery ($799 ÷ 6). The UK kit is about $165 an hour on the same yardstick ($991 ÷ 6). That is not a lab measurement of how long your pair lasts. It is a simple way to see how much of the gap is just currency and list price.
The software calendar still favors the US
Hardware is crossing borders faster than every feature. From Meta's September 23 post:
- Cycling and transit directions: later this month in the US and Canada
- Landmark-style walking prompts ("turn at the yellow house"): called out in the same navigation update
- Calendar controls on the glasses: English, US for now
- Hologram WhatsApp face for calls: Early Access later this fall, US Display users
- Explore app, mirrored notifications, Threads Community Feeds: coming, without a firm multi-country date in that post
- Dolby Atmos capture: Meta says AI glasses are first to record it natively
France, Italy, and Germany are 15 days from the October 13 online and retail start (Paris, Milan, Rome, Frankfurt, Hamburg, Munich). Prescription lenses open that day through EssilorLuxottica stores in France and Italy, with Germany later. Mixed-News also notes Meta is still talking about limited inventory and waitlists when size or color is out.
Geeknewz verdict
If you are in the US or Canada and already want Display glasses, the regional math is not a reason to wait. Canada is within rounding error of $799 in USD, and the US still gets the earliest software lane for calendar and hologram. If you are in the UK, budget for roughly a quarter more than the US kit in dollar terms, or wait to try them in London before you eat a 30-day return window. If you are in France, Italy, or Germany, October 13 is the hardware date, not a promise that every Connect demo is live on day one. Geeknewz's view: buy Display for the in-lens UI and Neural Band if that is the product you want, and treat UK/EU stickers as a real premium rather than a launch promo.
