Apple’s first foldable iPhone has a name, a Canadian price and a wait attached. Announced September 9, iPhone Duo starts at CAD$2,999 for 256GB. Canadian preorders open October 16 at 5 a.m. Pacific, with availability beginning October 23, according to Apple’s Canadian announcement.
The central attraction is room: Apple specifies a 7.6-inch inner display and a 5.4-inch outer display. Its Split View lets two apps share the larger screen, including two windows of Safari. Think comparison shopping with fewer trips between tabs.
There are details worth separating from the launch excitement. Touch ID sits in the side button. Apple says support for the USB-C Apple Pencil comes later this year; that is not a promise of Pencil support on day one. The phone is due to ship with iOS 27.1.
Axios’s event coverage also reports the October 16 preorder and October 23 shipping dates.
The useful question is whether the extra workspace earns its place in your pocket—and budget. We have not tested Duo’s hinge, battery or cameras, so this is a launch brief, not a buying verdict.
