Gadgetbridge's fitness dashboard can now move beyond the app itself. In its November 6 announcement of version 2026.11.0, the project says individual dashboard widgets can be placed on an Android phone's home screen. The update also adds configurable quick controls to device cards for supported Oppo, Shokz, Sinilink and Sony gadgets.
Gadgetbridge is a free, open-source Android companion app for watches, fitness bands, headphones and other supported hardware. Its appeal is being able to manage compatible devices through an alternative to the manufacturer's app. This release makes some of that information easier to reach, rather than requiring another trip through an app's tabs.
Inside Gadgetbridge, the rebuilt dashboard supports a drag-and-drop grid with different widget sizes and layouts. It can retain separate layouts for different screen sizes, useful on a foldable phone. There is also a new workouts tab bringing together workouts from multiple devices.
Choose the data you actually want to see
The project's dashboard documentation describes views for daily activity, goals and individual measures such as steps, distance and sleep time. Data is combined from paired devices by default, with an option to use only selected devices. That distinction matters if you switch between wearables: check which device supplies the information before treating two similar-looking numbers as equivalent.
A small home-screen selection is a sensible starting point. Put the measure you routinely open the app to check within reach, then add more only if it earns the space. A fuller dashboard can remain inside the app.
Compatibility still comes first
Gadgetbridge's device guidance makes clear that support varies by model. Garmin support can be partial, with missing features and known issues. Some Amazfit and Xiaomi devices require a pairing key obtained through the official app. Replacing a companion app therefore needs a check of your exact hardware, not just a familiar brand name.
Before switching, list the functions you depend on, such as notifications or workout syncing, and compare them with your device's documentation. The FAQ also clarifies that Gadgetbridge is a companion app, not replacement watch firmware.
Version 2026.11.0 is listed on IzzyOnDroid. If you already use another distribution channel, check its available version before expecting the new interface; the project says it does not control when F-Droid publishes a release. Existing users can start with one useful widget. New users should settle the compatibility question first.
