Carrie on Prime Video Oct 7: all 8 Flanagan episodes

Mike Flanagan's Carrie is three days from landing, and Prime Video is not dribbling it out week by week. Amazon's own entertainment page says all eight episodes of the first television series adaptation of Stephen King's 1974 novel arrive on October 7 in more than 240 countries and territories. If October horror is already on your calendar, this is the appointment title, not a background playlist.

The pitch is a modern Carrie. Summer H. Howell plays Carrie White after a search Amazon says involved more than 1,000 actors. Samantha Sloyan is Margaret White. Matthew Lillard plays Principal Grayle. Flanagan writes and executive produces, directs four episodes, and shares executive producer credit with King on an Amazon MGM Studios production. Social media cruelty and viral bullying sit next to the telekinesis that made the book famous.

How this Carrie sits next to earlier screen versions

Amazon's framing is careful. King's debut spent 14 weeks on the New York Times bestseller list, has been translated into more than 35 languages, and sits inside a career Amazon pegs at more than 350 million books sold. The De Palma movie is the cultural landmark most people still picture. Flanagan's version is the first time the novel gets an episodic TV run, which is the actual news if you already own the films on disc.

TechRadar's October 3 explainer lists the same Oct 7 date and the full episode drop, with school-subject episode titles from "First Period" through "AP Physics." US and Canada availability is expected at midnight Pacific, which is 9 p.m. Eastern on October 6 for night-owl viewers. That matches how Prime usually dates new originals.

Deadline's September trailer coverage and Amazon's cast list line up on the same core ensemble: Siena Agudong as Sue Snell, Alison Thornton as Chris Hargensen, Joel Oulette as Tommy Ross, Amber Midthunder as Miss Desjardin, and Josie Totah, Arthur Conti, and Thalia Dudek in supporting roles. You do not need every name to decide whether to watch. The useful tell is that Flanagan is stacking familiar collaborators (Sloyan from Midnight Mass) next to wider-audience faces (Lillard), which usually means the show wants both horror lifers and casual Prime browsers in the same living room.

What the binge costs if you are not already on Prime

Prime Video is included with Amazon Prime. Amazon's Carrie page lists U.S. membership at $14.99 per month or $139 per year, with discounted plans for young adults and qualifying assistance recipients. Annual versus monthly math is straightforward: 14.99 × 12 = $179.88, so the yearly plan saves about $40.88 if you keep the membership all year. That is not Carrie pricing. It is the door fee for the app that holds Carrie, Thursday Night Football, and the rest of the October slate Amazon posted separately (Helluva Boss Season 3 on the 14th, The Terminal List Season 2 later in the month, Apocalypse Z 2 on Halloween).

Eight episodes in one night is a different habit than a weekly drip. If two people in a household finish the season, the incremental cost of one more Prime month is easier to justify than if Carrie is the only title anyone opens. If you already pay for Prime for shipping or NFL, the series is effectively sitting in a bill you were paying anyway.

Geeknewz verdict

Geeknewz's view: queue Carrie for October 7 if Flanagan's Netflix horror run worked for you, or if you want a King story told at series length instead of feature length. Wait if you only know Carrie from the De Palma ending and you are not ready for a modern bullying-and-phones rewrite. Either way, treat the trailer as mood, not as a spoiler map, and check your country's Prime row for the midnight Pacific drop. The exclusive window is the product. Disney's Percy Jackson and Ice Age Netflix windows opened this weekend for a different reason. Carrie is Amazon trying to own the first full week of October horror with one binge.
